Fadi KApart from the UK’s AWARD winner of 2009 Best salsa teacher for London & South East Fadi is a man of many talents, equally at home teaching salsa or DJ-ing reggaeton.  He discovered salsa in 2002 and since then has gone on to teach and DJ throughout the UK and abroad.  In a comparatively short time he has developed a proven track record in many areas and has established himself nationally and internationally.  He regularly works with some of the biggest names around the world, be they DJs, singers or dancers. Fadi has worked with organisations as diverse as the Latin Collective UK, Salsa Schools throughout the country, salsa explosion, Salsology and he’s the artistic director of Rueda Del-Mundo School UK. And the best bit of all this?  It’s only just beginning…

Nelson Campos & Sophia Meyer

Photo of Nelson Campos & Sophia Meyer dancingNelson de Oliveira Campos is currently one of the most popular Kizomba instructors and performers in UK and Europe. From the West African country of Guinea-Bissau, Nelson was born a dancer. With his family he moved to Lisbon Portugal at an early age, where he spent any time possible in the Salsa and African Clubs impressing the girls and the crowd with this extraordinary dance talent. Nelson started teaching Salsa in Lisbon and later on in Barcelona more than 15 years ago. In 1999 he moved to London and qualified as a professional dance teacher with the United Kingdom Alliance. He is founder and director of Kent Salsa & Kizomba dance school, teaching Salsa, Kizomba, Bachata and Merengue on a fulltime basis. Nelson is well-known for his energetic classes, full of fun and his extraordinary patience and passion for teaching and dancing. More than anything Nelson is famous as one of today’s best Kizomba instructors. Nelson is regularly giving Kizomba Workshops abroad and performing Shows internationally. Nelson is also working with UKA, teaching, training and examining dance teachers to become certified Kizomba teachers. His partner Sophia Meyer is from Switzerland. She has been involved in Afro dancing as a teenager and performed shows with an Afro Dance Company from Zürich. Later on she learnt dancing Salsa the natural way whilst living and travelling all over South America. When she met Nelson she got introduced to Kizomba and found her new passion, where Afro and Latino roots are united. Nelson & Sophia have released the first ever English professional instructional Kizomba DVD, which has been a great success, helping people from all around the world to learn and enjoy Kizomba dancing. By now they have released two more Kizomba DVDs and they continue to be discovered as an extraordinary dance couple by more and more dancers around the globe.

Sue (Salsa…Feel the Heat)

Sue (Salsa... Feel the Heat)Sue or “Little Sue” to all those that know her in the Salsa world.  Apart from teaching Salsa, Sue is also a college lecturer teaching English as a second language and Spanish which fits very nicely around the Salsa Scene.  Sue first got into the Salsa Groove about 18 years ago and went on to teach with Andre & Chariffi at Manchester’s Copacabana Nightclub.  Since then she has run her own classes in the Bolton, Runcorn, St Helens’s, Warrington and Wigan areas.  Sue also organises regular party nights, workshops, annual 1 day and weekend events in the North West along with guest teaching at other events and delivering educational workshops and team building activities.  With a background in teaching the Latin Rhythms it was a natural choice to train and qualify as a Zumba instructor, which fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a one of a kind fitness programme that will blow you away. Sue Knight

Sue KnightSue is passionate about salsa!  After dancing since the age of 8yrs in various styles of dance, it did take a while for Sue to find Salsa but now the salsa bug has bitten her she has never looked back.  Sue started dancing salsa over 8yrs ago and is s qualified  UKA ASSOCIATE TEACHER in CLUB DANCE SALSA, enabling her to teach in schools, colleges and be acknowledged by one of the countrys leading dance organisations.

Sue Teaches classes in Wrexham Ellesmere, Whitchurch and Burly Dam and also travels the country performing and teaching.  Sue is also a qualified ZUMBA instructor and Burlesque Performer

Leandro Charanga

Leandro CharangaLeandro Charanga was immediately crowned the Reggaeton King on his arrival in the UK and is one of the most charismatic performers around today. Leandro’s style is unique and wildly entertaining. His fusion of raw energy from the back streets of Havana and classical ballet education could only happen in Cuba. His dance is edgy and athletic and at the same time full of grace and fun. Leandro has taught and performed in all of the Cuban dance forms ; Salsa, Son, Cha Cha, Rumba, Afro and of course Reggaeton. Leandro’s warmth and enthusiasm for dance fills any room.

Natalie Ward

Natalie WardNatalie, after being widely exposed to many Latin cultures and people, followed her passion for dance in this Genre.  Originally dancing and teaching LA style Salsa around Gloucestershire, she bacame trained and qualified to UKA Silver level in Salsa & Bachata, and began teaching and choreographing Reggaeton.  This is when she became crowned ‘The Reggaeton Queen’, having been quoted “The best outside of London”.  She has since trained with the King, Leandro Charanga, who was part of Tony Manendez’s top dance Company in Cuba, which brought him great fame accross the world and he made several TV appearances.  Together, now Natalie & Leo make an ‘UNBREAKABLE’ team teaching and performing all Cuban and Latin Styles all over the world…Natalie has directed her own Cuban Dance Company for 3 years in Cheltenham, has appeared in Music Videos and has appeared as a guest for most local promoters, including The Cuban Salsa Congress in Bournemouth.

Wilson Castro, Amanda Hawley & Todo-Latino Dance Company

Wilson Castro dancingWith an extraordinary talent, huge personality and compelling charisma, Wilson Castro is a natural entertainer and the “face” of Todo Latino.  Classically trained in Ballet, Jazz and Folklore, Wilson has been dancing professionally for 20 years. He is internationally renowned and respected for his Salsa, Bachata and Merengue performance, teaching and entertainment, and is seven times undefeated Salsa champion of the Dominican Republic.  He has worked as a dancer, choreographer and performer, and is a well known tv celebrity, throughout Latin America. Now Wilson Castro has brought his passion and knowledge of teaching and entertaining to the UK.  Wilson is currently based in Nottingham, and can be seen regularly teaching and performing throughout Europe. In fact, Wilson loves nothing more than following the development of his students and takes great pride in everyone’s achievements, from absolute beginners to Wilson’s success stories.  Being in Wilson Castro’s company guarantees an unforgettable Latin dance and music experience.  Wilson Castro’s heart beats to a Salsa rhythm and his passion for Salsa is inextinguishable.  The business brain, mover, shaker and organiser behind Todo Latino, Amanda Hawley is considered by some to be the best female Bachata dancer and performer in the UK today.   Amanda shares Wilson Castro’s classical dance origins, and has trained with Salsa and Bachata champions on numerous extended visits to the Dominican Republic.   She has studied both traditional, old style Bachata Rosa, as well as street style Bachata and is second only to Wilson in her understanding of the nuances of each style.  Amanda loves teaching Salsa and Bachata, and is especially talented at drawing out the ability of absolute beginners who might initially believe that they’ll never be able to dance.   Her incredible technical proficiency is complemented by a natural flair for the clear communication of the fundamentals of Salsa, which helps students to develop a relaxed and enjoyable style of dance.

Ulises Carrillo

Ulises CarrilloUlises was born in Havana, Cuba where his culture initiated his life-long dance experience. He initially trained for 4 years with ‘Tony Mendez’ at The Cuban International Dance Company. He then went on to sing and dance at the Cabaret Tropicana’s Show and the Cabaret Parisien which is the National Hotel of Cuba.   Then, following an acting career on TV, Radio, Cine and Theatre Ulises turned his talent to teaching and has taught and performed alongside top teachers & entertainers from Cuba and indeed all over the world. Further, Ulises was part of the team that performed Cuban Rueda in the Guy Ritchie motion picture – Rock and Rola alongside Moe Flex, Enrique Perez and Rohan Brown.

Ulises specialises in the Afro-Cuban dance forms; Son, Casino, La Rueda, Mambo, Cha Cha Cha, yambu, Rumba, La Columbia, Palo, Orishas and others such traditional dances.  Ulises has great charisma and his lessons are really good fun.   He is one of the youngest brightest and most extremely talented up and coming Cuban Salsa stars on the UK Salsa scene, who is now reaching the next level in his dance career.  His approach includes learning to use body language to tell the stories of the Cuban culture through the dance.  Seriously….come and check this guy out!

Doctor Jim & Susan – Salsa Caribe Productions

Doctor JimJim – In addition to being a highly skilled teacher of Cuban salsa, Jim is a celebrated and vastly experienced DJ, specialising in cutting-edge Cuban salsa & timba, latin jazz and classic Nuyorican salsa.   As well as his weekly residency at the Afro-Cuban Lounge in London, he regularly plays at many of the UK’s top salsa venues and events.   Jim is one of the founders of Salsa Caribe Productions and is available for private dance tuition and for DJ hire.

SusanSusan – Trained in a wide variety of dance disciplines, Susan has been teaching salsa for ten years and has studied Cuban popular and folkloric dance forms, both in Havana and Santiago.  Renowned for her attention to detail, style and technique, she is generally regarded to be the UK’s foremost teacher of authentic Cuban salsa.  Susan is one of the founders of Salsa Caribe Productions and is available for private classes, performances and Spanish lessons.

Misael Cordero

Misael Cordero relaxingMisael Espinosa Cordero was born in Santiago de Cuba, a musical country where he was surrounded by Salsa music and dance. From an early age he loved to dance which led him to train in singing, dance and acting at the Escuela de Instructores de Arte Pepito Tey, Santiago de Cuba. Performing in the international festival of choir in Santiago de Cuba, Singing on a National TV with Kiki Corona and other Famous Artists in the Tribuna Abierta (political-cultural event where some of the most important ministers were present, like the now current Present of Cuba Raul Castro).  Since moving to the UK he has focused on teaching Salsa, as well as performing in various local shows and teaching at the Bournemouth International Salsa Congress. He strives to promote the Cuban style of Salsa and introduce people to Cuban music. His patience and lively character ensure that his classes (Cardiff, Newport and Plymouth) are relaxed and fun to participate in yet serious and he relishes seeing people improve their dancing. Recently he appeared on the local TV, ITV Wales “The Wales Show” Teaching Salsa. Also in locals News papers, magazines.

Monty Clarke

Gary Rowlands

Gary Rowlands, the Salsa Bangor house DJGary Rowlands aka DJ Salsacelt has been DJ’ing weekly at Salsa Bangor for the past two years.  In addition to his regular slot he has DJ’ed at Salsa Bangor party nights and other local salsa party nights, occasionally having the opportunity to be guest DJ at the Salsa Inferno monthly events .  He tries to keep Salsa Bangor up to date with the latest Salsa as well as re-inventing the odd classic.  He thrives to play a set to suit the dancers’ abilities, musical preference as well as reading the dancefloor.  His musical range will usually be a variety of Salsa styles, with a dash of Bachata, Cha cha and recently Kizomba thrown in.   He is also an active Committee Member at Salsa Bangor.
